Want to Change Grocery/Store Prices?

Famous people are always trying to do movements. Like currently Oprah is doing a NO texting while driving. I would love to do the same thing.

People don't realise how much control WE have on prices. Compaines cannot charge as much as they do if we don't buy it.I have gone on my own rebelion series. I decided to shop at Famer's Markets, Thrift Stores, Craigslist, and Swap meets before I will even go into a retailer store. Real people know fair prices, and know what they would buy something at, not a big shot who sits up in a 50 floor office in a chair with a cell phone attached to his hand in a suit and tie.

If enough people did this, they would have to lower the cost of goods and produce. They cannot charge what the public won't pay. I wish more people understood this, we could take back so much power from the goverment and things.

People say is not what you say, its what you do or show. So many people complain til they are red in the face, but you can have a stronger impact silently.

Pick Farmer's Markets, Thirft Stores, Craigslist, swap items with friends, go to a local city swap meet. And give your hard earnings to those who worked hard and who are not going to rip you off.

Grocery Savings

I use to cut coupons, but found that I was buying more things I did not need.I just thought it was a bargain because I found a coupon. Try this:

1. Only buy what you need
2. Make a list
3. Take CASH, no credit or debit card (you will end up spending more money). You cannot spend what you don't have on you right?
4. Don't pick up a grocery cart, this will help you get only what you need if you have to carry it yourself.
5. Pick up and adversitement and see what's on sale first.
6. Get a discount card to the grocery store you frequent, and make sure to keep it in your wallet.
7. When buying meat. If you buy the meat that is already cut up and in a plastic tray it make cost you $5.00, but if you find a large hunk of the same meat for .98 a lb you can take that to the butcher, he will slice it up for you for free, put it in the plastic tray and you will be charged the lower amount. You can get the lower price AND still get it cut up and prepackaged.

Food
Salad Prepackaged $4.50
Head of Lettuce $1.50

Cut/sliced Carrots $3.50
Single carrots $.50 lb

Bag of Apples $4.00
Single Apples $.55 lb

Remember to always shop at Farmer's Markets!!!!

Invest in a NuWave Oven

For those of you who don't know the NuWave is a convevtional oven its great and I love it. It sits on top of your counter, and its round. It comes with different level trays, an exspanion rim, and the top. It is so easy to use, and you can cook meat stright out of th freezer WITHOUT defrosting!!!!

They retail on amazon.com for about $120.00, but I found mine on craiglst for $50.00 for the ocmplete set that you see on tv. And it is so worth it.

1. cook meat straight out of the freezer, no defrosting
2. no pans to clean up
3. saving on electric bill for stove/oven use

This works well for a small family, I cooked for mine when my mother was visiting this week and I made dinners for 3 people on it.

Pork chops take 8min
steak 12 mins.
salmon 10 min
chicken 20 min
Pot roast 38 min

And you can steam vegtables, barbeque, etc. I love it so much and its simple clean up. I am often skeptical about things on info commercials but I'm tellin you its so worth the money and it works. Everything I cooked above came straight out of my deep freezer!!!

you can even make pizza in it. Imagine putting steak, baked potates and vegtables into 1 machine and it all being cooked together!!!! You will not be disapointed!!!!

Collect Free and Resell

I am up at midnight, I was not planning on it but when I get a great idea in my head I cannot sleep.I was trying to think of ways to create extra income, this could be put towards debt, or my savings account.

Many people put things on craigslist "free" section. And others try to sell things. I'm sure this is not a new idea, but I decided that I am going to collect whatever free things there are baby items, appliances, etc that are still in good condition and get a booth at the farmer's market and sell the items.

I could list them all on Craigslist, and take them to the farmer's market every weekend. Ok, so their are probably tons of people doing this. Getting free items, fixing them or whatever and turning and making a profit off of it.

Its a great idea, especially if all I have to do is drive to the place to collect it. My husband will be gone in Afghanistan, so I will have tons of time to collect.

Why not? No different than having a grage sale from your home? The only thing is I'm taking the time to sell what other people don't want to take a little time for. This possibly could be a way to pay off my debt on my credit report.

Wanting to Adopt in the future

I cannot have a baby, but am researching ideas for adoption. to figure out costs and things. We don't have a lot of money and I need to fix my credit report first of course and get a savings. But I like to prepare and know things in advanced.

I was informed that if I want to adopt if I adopted through the County their is no fee to adopt a child. The child would receive AAP Benefits (Adoption Assistance Program) of $500 a month until the child is 18 or possibly 21. They also receive Medicaid through the government until 18 yrs of age. And the county provides free child care classes for adoptive parents.

This sounds so wonderful, and something I am looking forward to so much. It gets me motivated to get healthy and stronger as well as fix my credit report.

This might be a year or more away for me, but I was also thinking. You don't ever have to pay full price for anything, and I spend a lot of time on craigslist in the FREE section. I know that I will adopt a child (boy & girl someday) and often people are just giving away free bags of kids clothing, or baby items like strollers, car seat, bedding, high chair. I wish I had more space for storage, but I am planning to collect all the baby items I can get for free and box them up (like clothing or toys) and keep them waiting for my adoptive child. So when I get that child I will have not have paid anything for it. The only thing it will have cost me is gas money to pick the item up. But people drive to the store AND buy name brand items anyway, aren't they paying more doing this?

I think its a good idea and its planning ahead too. Find items FREE or USED and save the difference. Children don't know the difference....

Food Bank, Great Assistance

People probaly wonder why should I go stand in a food bank to collect food?

Many people think of it as not being able to support their family, being a loser, or they have to much pride to do this. But what they don't understand is that even the littlest help can make such a big difference.

Food Banks don't require idenitication and you can go as often as you need to, their are also many location distributions that you can attend. Many are once or twice a month. You can get the same foods you would buy at the store, spaghetti, peanut butter, rice, drinks, soup, canned vegtables. And even fresh foods. the food banks I atttend give large bags of lettuce, fruit, and potatoes.

Typlically (with the economy) you could wait inline from 1-2 hrs. But you can meet some amazing people standing in line. Not everyone is poor, some are just out of work, and many are with their kids. I enjoy not knowing who I'm going to meet or talk with while i'm in line. And I am amazed everytime.

It keeps you humble. When you realise how many people need help or how getting the extra support helps your family it keeps you grounded and humble. And often if there are things I recieve from the Food Banks I take and share with my friends. Some of my friends and I go together, and we stand in line together and talk.

The biggest way these programs help, it allows me to strech my income and use my money for other things that come up. A medication co-pay that insurance would not cover, gas, if the car breaks down, or other things that come up out of nowhere.
Its those little things that cathc people for a loop and cause us to borrow money from family, friends, banks, co wokers, or put us in the negative with our bank. Then we get a $25.00 charge. No one likes that.

People don't like handouts, but if you change your additude you will see the money left over in your account to help your family with other things and you will feel good about going to the Food Bank.

Waiting to get paid

Ever plan to do something positive for your life and for your finances and when your waiting for that check it takes longer to show up?

This is what I am going through, I made a plan three weeks ago and am waiting for my funds to arrive. This always seems to happen when I decide to make a plan. My tax lien of $250.00 is first on my list, and as soon as I get that check I am going straight to the bank and getting a money order to pay it. To help myself get there I plan to take an addressed stamped envelope.

Whenever you pay a debt, its best to pay it with a money order. Keep ALL your receipts, and even copy the envelope. I keep all mine in a binder. If anyone ever comes back to you about not receiving payment you can pull out all your copies.

Its just a way to protect yourself.
